Guided Discussion

You can tell me your interests in advance or topics you'd like to discuss. I adapt to your level and guide you so we can discuss these topics or other things together. In my opinion, this is an effective way to learn Japanese and it's my most popular course.

During the discussion, I take note of some remarks or corrections that I send you at the end.

Group Discussion (3 students)

This follows the same principle as guided discussion but with groups of three people. When you register, you are placed on a waiting list until three people are available. Then, we all decide together on a time slot that suits us. I also try to ensure that everyone can participate equally. This is a very affordable option.

Academic Lesson

You can choose a specific topic of your choice or from suggestions. I can help you understand grammar points, help you become autonomous to prepare for a trip to Japan, help you with your Japanese pronunciation, or help you with exercises and exams. This tends to require more preparation from me, so it's preferable to communicate details in advance. Something that has worked well for me is oral comprehension with a video that I suggest and that you study in advance. We then discuss your work.

FAQ

What level do I need to start?
Lessons are open to all levels. However, I recommend familiarity with hiragana and katakana to get the most out of the lessons. If you're not there yet, my online platform can help you learn them at your own pace.
What happens during a guided discussion lesson?
You tell me your interests or a topic in advance. The lesson takes place via video call using Jitsi (no account required). During the session, we discuss together in Japanese at your pace. I guide you and correct you with kindness. At the end, I send you a summary with important points and corrections.
Which course should I choose?
Guided discussion (my most popular course) is ideal for gaining confidence in speaking. Academic lessons are better if you have a specific goal: grammar, JLPT preparation, trip to Japan. Group lessons are an affordable option to practice with other students.
What do I need to take a lesson?
A stable internet connection and a computer or tablet with webcam and microphone. No account or textbook required.
Are lessons in Japanese or English?
Discussion lessons are mainly conducted in Japanese, adapted to your level. I can explain in English if necessary. The goal is to have you practice Japanese as much as possible.
Do you offer a trial lesson?
Yes! A 30-minute academic trial lesson is offered free of charge (one time only) to discover my method and assess your needs.
What happens if I'm late?
The session continues as planned but you cannot be reimbursed or reschedule the session.
Is it possible to cancel or reschedule the session?
Yes, if you notify me early enough (preferably 24 hours in advance). You will be reimbursed in this case.
